Grand South India Tour

Day 1 - BChennai

On arrival at Chennai airport our representative having a placard displaying your name will meet you to pick you up and transfer to your hotel.  Overnight at hotel in Chennai.

Day 3 - Bangalore [4h]

After breakfast drive to Bangalore, the Garden city of India. Take a short orientation tour of Bangalore. City is now a wonderful blend of past and present. Visit of Bangalore Palace built in 1887. Construction is inspired by Windsor Castle. Later we take a stroll in Krishna Rajendra Market. This vivid, traditional local market is an assault on the senses and a treat for photographers. Also visit Vidana Soudha which is a landmark of Bangalore, next to Cubbon Park. This enormous building is a massive example of neo-Dravidian architecture, with four domes on its four corners.

Day 5 - Mysore 

After breakfast sightseeing of Mysore. Popularly known as the ‘Cultural capital of Karnataka’, Mysore is a place that beautifully blends splendour of history with the living vibrancy of the traditions and culture which is reflected in the lives of its residents. The city of Mysore boasts of innumerable choice of sightseeing. We will visit Chamundi Hill temple and Bull statue. Later visit of Mysore Palace. In the later afternoon we drive to Somnathpur. The star shaped temple at Somnathpur is a splendid example of Hoysala architecture. It is embellished with a profusion of finely sculpted friezes and panels. Return to hotel for overnight stay.

Day 7 - Ooty, Coonoor & Cochin [6 h]

Transfer to Ooty railway station to board the toy train to Coonoor. The Nilgiri Mountain Railway is One of India's Most Popular Toy Trains. We will take 1 hours 10 minutes joy ride to Coonoor. On arrival we meet our driver and drive to Cochin. Arrive in Cochin and check into the hotel. In the evening watch Kathakali dance performance. Overnight.

Day 9 - Alleppey & Periyar [4h]

Breakfast. Check out from houseboat. Drive to Periyar. Arrive and visit of Abraham's spice Garden. This spice garden is totally organic and is run by Abraham’s family. Mr. Varkey Varkey who is the grand father of Mr. Abraham started the farm in 1952. You can see some extraordinary spiders doing what spiders are meant to do – killing bugs. You can also see minute Asian honey Bees and numerous spices and fruits including many verities of banana. A comprehensive tour shall take 1 hours or even longer. You will get the information you want about the plants, living organisms, farming, and quality maintenances. Later you can enjoy an elephant ride at Elephant junction farms and also take a stroll in Kumily town. Overnight.

Day 11 - Madurai & Trichy [3h]

After breakfast drive to Trichy. Arrive and visit of Sri Ranganatha Swamy Temple, Srirangam. Also visit Rock fort temple. Overnight in Trichy.

Day 13 -  Kumbhakonam & Pondicherry [4h]

Drive to Pondicherry. On the way visit of Shiva temple in Chidambaram. The Chidambaram temple is an incredible space. The newer part of the temple is around a thousand years old but no one knows how old the older part of the temple is. This is how Indian culture has been. At the Chidambaram temple, there is the Nataraja, Shiva as the Lord of Dance. Natesha or Nataraja is one of the most significant forms of Shiva. After the visit drive to Pondicherry. On arrival visit of Ganesh temple, Gandhi beach in French quartes, MG road. Overnight in Pondicherry.

Day 2 - Chennai, Kanchipuram & Vellore [3h]

After breakfast drive to Vellore. On the way visit of Kanchipuram. Visit of Ekambareshwar Temple. Lunch. Further drive to Vellore. Arrive and check into your hotel. In the evening visit of Golden Temple of Vellore. Temple is built on 100 acres land and took 7 years to construct. Overnight.

Day 4 - Bangalore & Mysore [4h]

After breakfast drive to Mysore. Arrive and check int your hotel. Visit of Srirangpatnam. In the evening take a stroll in fruits and flower market.

Day 6: Mysore & Ooty [4 h]

Drive to Ooty. Arrive and check into your hotel. Later visit of Ooty. You can visit Rose garden, Doddabetta view point and Ooty market. Overnight in Ooty.

Day 8 - Cochin & Alleppey [2h]

After breakfast visit to Cochin. As per your interests, you can visit attractions. Chinese Fishing Nets, The Mattancherry Palace palace is popularly known as the Dutch Palace, Jewish synagogue, Vasco da Gama Square, Dhobi Ghat [Laundry place]. Drive to Alleppey. Arrive and check into your houseboat. The House Boats in Kerala or the Kettuvallams (kettu means "tied with ropes", vallam means "boat") are large slow- moving floating structures with high load carrying capacity. Kettuvallams is a part of Kerala’s rich culture and heritage since centuries and was mainly used for transporting men and materials to different destination. It was the important mode of transportation in coastal Kerala mostly in remote areas. 

 

More than 400 houseboats play the Kerala Backwaters, of which 100 are well maintained and are actually luxuary liners. The houseboats in Kerala have all the comforts of a good hotel like well – furnished bedrooms, hygienic toilets, kitchen and even balcony. A houseboat trip is truly rejuvenating and an excellent way to get close to the enchanting nature. These boats are an excellent choice to travel all your way through the lakes, lagoons and canals and absorb all of Kerala natural beauty. Lunch and dinner will be on your houseboat

Day 10 - Periyar & Madurai [3:30h]

After breakfast drive to Madurai. Arrive and visit of Meenkashi temple and Thirumalai Nayakkar Palace. In the evening attend and watch Prayer ceremony. At night during the final prayer of the day, God Siva, husband of Meenakshi would typically be carried in a palanquin from his shrine and escorted to his residing place, where Goddess Meenakshi waits in her shrine for her husband to come home. This lively divine procession followed by a piece of music along with a gathering of devotees. Once the God Siva reaches his home, they rest in their bedchamber is made of pure silver. This daily process of religious action at early in the morning is being traditionally named Thirupalli Ezhuchi - wake up a prayer – Morning Prayer – opening ceremony.

Day 12 - Trichy, Tanjore & Kumbhakonam [3h]

After breakfast drive to Tanjore. Arrive and visit of Big temple [Brihadeshwara Temple] built by Raja Raja Chola I in 1010 AD. After the visit of Big temple drive to Kumbhakonam. Arrive and visit of Darasuram temple. Overnight in Paradise resort in Kumbhakonam.

Day 14 - Pondicherry, Mahabalipuram & Chennai [3h]

After breakfast drive to Auroville. Auroville wants to be a universal town where men and women of all countries are able to live in peace and progressive harmony above all creeds, all politics and all nationalities. The purpose of Auroville is to realise human unity. After the visit further drive to Mahabalipuram. Arrive and visit of Mahabalipuram group of temples which will include Shore temple, Five Chariots. Later in the evening transfer to Chennai airport for your flight back home.
